Born in Kathmandu, Reaching the World

We believe language is the most powerful bridge between people and cultures. Our mission is to make Nepali accessible to everyone who wants to connect with Nepal — wherever they are.

Why We Started — and Why It Still Matters

Expatriate Community Services was founded in 1997 by Ramdevi Shrestha, a Kathmandu-based language teacher who kept meeting the same story: expats arriving in Nepal, eager to connect with the people and culture around them, but with no structured way to learn the language.

She built what she wished had existed — a proper, professional language centre with native teachers, a structured curriculum, and a genuine passion for helping people unlock Nepal through its language.

Over the years, we've grown beyond Kathmandu. Today, we serve students across 30+ countries, from British diplomats learning Nepali before a Kathmandu posting, to Nepali-Australian families keeping their children connected to their heritage.

We also offer trusted house maid placement for expat and Nepali families, as well as Kathmandu residents — because a happy, comfortable home is where your Nepal journey truly begins.

Our Values

These principles guide every lesson, every placement, and every interaction we have with our students and clients.

Results-Focused

We measure success by your fluency, not just lesson hours. Every class is designed to deliver real, practical speaking ability.

Cultural Respect

Nepali is more than a language — it's a living culture. We teach language in the context of traditions, values, and community.

Genuine Care

Small class sizes, attentive teachers, and a community of learners who support each other. You're never just a student ID here.

Continuous Growth

We constantly refine our curriculum and teaching methods based on student feedback and developments in language pedagogy.
